I've been trying to get my fix of in-depth Ancient Rome-themed grand strategy, and both EU:Rome nor TW:Rome had become a bit boring.
So I found myself on the grognard side of the internet and traced my way to the Matrix Games website.
Have any of which matrix game is the best had any experience with any of their games?
What are they like, compared to Paradox ones?
Some are and some aren't.
They are even more niche than Paradox.
They are probably the last consistent publisher of old school wargames.
Try Unity of Command its pretty easy to pick up compared to some of there more gonard games.
They do have a bewildering array of titles do your research to make sure you get one that you will enjoy.
I should also say I've tried Pride of Nations which is a matrix-Paradox game thinking it would be cool.
My though was it would be like a paradox take on Civ basly civ on a massive dose of steroids and it broke me instead seriously its mind boggling and very slow in terms of action.
Unlike Pdox, I believe Matrix only publishes games; it doesn't make any itself.
So the quality of the games are very dependent on the specific developers.
For instance, I own games from the Command Ops series and I own Crown of Glory.
These are both "Matrix games", but were made by completely different developers and best android game download wapsite, not surprisingly, completely different games.
PS - Also, Matrix prices things frustratingly high, but, as lilyputin noted, they are pretty much the only game in town for most of these.
On the price issue i seriously agree wish they would dive feet first into steam.
They'd probably find a lot more new players for wargames that way.
Really do you resuch on what you get before you buy armchair general is good place to start there are a few other sites that also review these games but i can't think of them off the top of my head right now.
Actually, Matrix just happens to sell Unity of Command, its devs are publishing it themselves and it's better to buy it from their site, since then you which matrix game is the best a steam key of the game in addition to wrestling games ever best pro normal copy.
But yes, it's well worth the money and it's cheap by the typical wargame standardsthe add-ons are excellent, and it's pretty friendly to new players.
You want a game that you can blow 90 bucks on when drunk?
Game has the learning curve of which matrix game is the best cliff with a chance of a avalanche.
You control every aspect of the war from the supplies to to the troops and carrier reinforcements.
For added value the Japanese side lets you control production of planes as well.
Also, any game with a mandatory 300 page manual is always a good game in my mind.
It was a drunk purchase for me two weeks ago.
I had never played a war-game before.
You're not kidding about the learning which matrix game is the best />However, the sheer amount of control you have over every aspect of your command is absolutely engrossing.
I have never had a game sink it's claws into me so deep, and I find myself regularly losing sleep saying "just one more turn".
I'm only in April of 1942 and I've been playing which matrix game is the best two weeks.
You might be interested source Panzer Corps.
It's a remake of the old Panzer General series, and it's excellent.
Plus there are craploads of DLCs for which matrix game is the best and the community is pretty active.
If you want to try out Panzer General and other war games of that ilk I'd recommend checking out open general its a great into to wargames plus it doesn't cost a penny since its open source After years of being a fan it boils down to this.
Do you like war games?
Do you like money?
You only get to pick one.
I would get The Operational Art Of War just for the Europe Aflame scenario.
Last december i finished a 3 year PBEM game, over 350 turns, against a single opponent.
Great game but primarily a logistics effort.
The same goes for War Plan Orange, WITP mod turned stand alone game, but i do find this somewath easier.
Just like WITP it is murderously complicated but check this out rewarding to play.
I always used the matrix games forums.
Scourge of war is awesome, and it's interface is decent by wargame standards which means it's worse than anything paradox has published but better than most of Matrix games.
Haven't found a better one in terms of representation of command structure and messengers.
Unity of command is great, not really deep as others in the catalogue but it feels modern, easy to play and the AI is great.
Field of Glory its great.
The core of the game is the miniatures wargames which is really great, albeit slow.
However, while the game itself is good, the graphics are shitty as fuck, variety is poor unless you buy 69684895896 expansions, the UI is major bullshit, it crashes sometimes.
I have played some others, but they are going crazy with the pricing since they did the fusion with slitherine.
The short version is good game concepts, realistic wargames, but execution shitty as fuck.
Some franchises of note: Stellaris, Cities: Skylines, Europa Universalis, Crusader Kings, Hearts of Iron, Pillars of Eternity, Victoria and Magicka.

But yes, it's well worth the money and it's cheap by the typical wargame standardsthe add-ons are excellent, and it's pretty friendly to new players.
You want a game that you can blow 90 bucks on when drunk?
Game has the learning curve of a cliff with a chance of a avalanche.
You're not kidding about the learning curve.
However, the sheer amount of control you have over every aspect of your command is absolutely engrossing.
I have never had a game sink it's claws into me so deep, and I find myself regularly losing sleep saying "just one more turn".
I'm only in April of 1942 and I've been playing for two weeks.
You might be interested in Panzer Corps.
It's a remake of the old Panzer General series, and it's excellent.
Plus there are craploads which matrix game is the best DLCs for it and the community is pretty active.
Also played War In The Pacific WITP via PBEM but that's years ago, made it into late 1943 on single day tuns.
Great game but primarily a logistics effort.
The same goes for War Plan Orange, WITP mod turned stand alone game, but i do find this somewath easier.
Just like WITP it is murderously complicated but very rewarding to play.
I always used the matrix games forums.
Scourge of war is awesome, and it's interface is decent by wargame standards which means it's worse than anything paradox has published but better than most of Matrix games.
Haven't found a better one in terms of representation of command structure and messengers.
Unity of https://davpon.ru/best-games/best-relax-games-android.html is great, not really deep as others in the catalogue but it feels modern, easy to play and the AI is great.
